Club Matches
Below are brief descriptions of matches Kern Shooting Sports commonly offers.
.22 Falling Plate Rifle
This match for rim fire rifles consists of three stages where competitors attempt to knock over ten six-inch square plates. Each stage has time-limited sight-in and shooting periods for the targets at a set distance. Stage one is 75 yards, stage two is 125 yards and stage three is 175 yards for rifles with optics.
Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
$15 for club ammunition if you wish to use it.
Steel Challenge Pistol
Competitors shoot a number of USPSA’s Steel Challenge stages in this match. Each stage is set up per USPSA guidelines and consists of five steel plates as targets. Each competitor shoots five runs per stage, with times recorded. Separate classes for rim fire, center fire, revolver iron sights, and optics. The number of stages shot will be determined by available time.
Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Bring your own ammunition.
NRA High Power Rifle
This is an official NRA high-power rifle match consisting of shooting stages in prone, sitting, and standing positions with slow and rapid-fire segments. Scores are recorded and if all requirements are met, shooters may elect to submit their scores to NRA for qualification.
Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Bring your own ammunition. Limited ammunition is available for purchase.
John C. Garand Tournament
The CMP John C. Garrand Match is open to all CMP club members, KSS members, and their guests. Using an “as issued” M1 Garrand competitors follow the official CMP rules in the standard 30-shot course of fire, with 5 sighting rounds at 200 yards.
Entry is $45 for members and $50 for non-members.
Includes 35 rounds of M2 .30-06 ammunition.
