NRA Basic Handgun Course

This course begins with classroom instruction from 8 AM to noon at 1111 Alta Vista Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93305. Classroom instruction must be completed in order to participate in the firing line exercise. NO PERSONAL GUNS OR LIVE AMMO is ALLOWED in the CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.

Firing line exercise from 1 PM to 5 PM at 5 Dogs Range, 20238 Woody Rd., Bakersfield, CA 93308.

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, participants must be 18 years of age.

To register for the class come to 1111 Alta Vista Dr. on March 9th from 5 pm to 7 pm to register. Please bring $75 exact cash for each participant registering for the class.

You are responsible for your lunch on the day of class.

What you should expect:
8 hours of instruction, this includes classroom and range time.
Bring a #2 pencil, pen and a highlighter to the class.
Introduction to handgun safety, parts, and operation of various handgun styles.

1. Introduction to pistol (handgun) safety and storage.
2. Introduction to pistol mechanisms and operation.
3. Building better pistol shooting skills:
4. Introduction to pistol maintenance, cleaning, and storage (demonstration only.)
5. Information on selecting your pistol and ammunition and NRA/ Local handgun sports and activities.
6. Complete the shooting qualification.
7. Take a Basic Pistol Shooting examination and pass with a minimum score of 90% and complete a course
   evaluation.

Note: Students are required to bring their personal handgun and a minimum of 150 rounds of ammunition or more for the firing line exercises.

Handgun loaners are available upon request for a fee of $15.00 for cleaning. You will be responsible for purchasing the ammunition.

Students will receive a course certificate upon completion.
